February 13, 14 & 15 2010 Jackson Memorial Visitor Center Open
The Visitor Center at the Paradise Area of Mount Rainier National Park will be open in honor of and to celebrate President's Day weekend. The Visitor Center offers exhibits, a park movie, gifts and food service, and it is open to the public from 10 AM to 5 PM. Also, ranger-led snowshoe walks will be conducted each day at 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM. Walks last about 2 hours, traverse approx. 1.2 miles, and are limited to 25 people (eight years or older) on a first-come, first-served basis. Snowshoes are provided, but a donation of $4 (per pair) is suggested. Warm clothes, hats, mittens, suitable boots, and sunglasses are strongly urged!
March 6 2010 BINGO!
An evening of family fun is being presented by the Packwood Community Presbyterian Church and will ultimately benefit Haiti Earthquake Relief and help send the Packwood Mission Team back to Haiti next year. The event is being held at the Packwood Community Hall, 12935 US Highway 12, and starts at 6:45 (first game); doors open at 6 PM. $20/person.
March 15 2010 White Pass Country Historical Society Meeting
This meeting is held at the White Pass Country Museum, 12990 US Highway 12, and starts at 6 PM with a business meeting, followed by the featured presention at 7 PM, by June Rowland, entitled "Packwood, As I First Saw It." March 20 2010 Family Movie Night - Packwood Timberland Library
Starting at 5 PM, this recently released feature is a science-fiction flick, the newest installment of a long-standing series from a place where no man has gone before and is recommended for viwers of all ages. Great family entertainment, and popcorn is provided! Call the library for a title: 494-5111, as title cannot be advertised due to legal ristrictions.
April 19 2010 White Pass Country Historical Society Meeting
The meeting is held at the White Pass Country Museum at 12990 US Highway 12 and starts with a business meeting at 6 PM. The featured presentation will be made by To Kogut, entitled "Wild Life of India" and starts at 7 PM. The public is envited and is most welcome! April 30 & May 2 2010 Annual Packwood Quilt Show
Running concurrently with the Packwood Mountain Festival, this 8th quilting extravaganza features 150+ quilts on display and has grown in popularity and in attendance with every year. This year's show is themed "Over the Top" and includes viewers' choice awards, cash prizes, a Quilter's Tea, bed turning, an interactive sewing area, many vendors, door prizes and raffles, quilts for sale, and a quilt walk (quilts will be displayed in participating businesses in town). Quilts for display will be accepted April 9 from 3:30 - 6:00 PM and April 10, noon to 5:00 PM, at the Packwood Senior Center; there is a $3/item entry fee. Show hours are 10 AM to 6 PM 4/30; 10 AM - 5 PM 5/1; and 11 AM - 4 PM 5/2 at the old Packwood Elementary Gym, 12990 US Highway 12. April 30 & May 2 2010 Annual Packwood Mountain Festival
This annual event is a celebration of mountain culture, heritage, crafts and customs, including Native American heritage. Packwood and surrounding history will be featured and is presented by the White Pass Country Historical Society and Museum in the old Packwood Elementary School building, 12990 US Highway 12. A solo event held at the Hampton Mill site in Packwood, held by the Northwest Region of the SCCA.
May 28 2010 Annual Packwood Flea Market - Memorial Day Weekend
An annual event that features new and used merchandise from antiques to bargain-priced new items. The bazaar takes place along both sides uf US Highway 12 going through Packwood as well as some side streets; parking is available for modest fees. If you're looking for an obscure item, this may just be the place you'll find it! This Market starts on May 28 and goes through Memorial Day, May 31.
